Jeanne, the sad part about low mileage at that age is, its actually worse! Unless stored in a climate controled environment! My 75 Pacer has only 45,000

Sounds like some intake valves are stuck open or at the very least have major rust on the seats and face allowing compression to blow back up thru the intake.

Jean, You need to take a methodical approach to your problem. My first recommendation would be to do a compression test on each cylinder. Or a leak down test

Sounds good so far. You may have to learn some plastic repair skills to deal with the interior. Those plastic door panels can sometimes have lots of cracks.
