Sounds like the body shop was tryin to talk you into spending big cash on the car. No 63 or 64 Cad is worth 100 thou. Not even at barat jerkson

I second that. If it had reverse all the way on the right, it mounts up to a Hydra-Matic (a.k.a. Jetaway). The engine most likely came out of a '64 Series 62.

It came out of a '64 that had reverse all the way to the right.

I checked the casting # on my 64 engine and its the same as yours,so we now know its a 64 429 for sure,but how did you determine if it fits a jetaway or a

Could be a hot block. No worries though, as the VIN is not used on the block to register the car.
