I may have been mistaken, maybe it required kernel310 to boot properly. Im nigh on positive though that it booted straight into Workbench from the original cd.

Yeah, most modern (ie. new) machines will be fine for amithlon (assuming hardware is supported), but if you want maximum performance for your amithlon setup
