i think this method only works if 1. you have a line with sid in your sources.list 2. if you have done #1, then make sure you also use an /etc/apt/preferences

Opps, my bad. After aptitude update, upgrade. Pidgin is latest 2.5.7, at least on Sid (unstable). ws01:~# pidgin --version Pidgin 2.5.7 (libpurple 2.5.7)
