Further - when I download the feed with wget to a file on my server - 8718.xml - simplepie successfully handles it. So my guess is that the content of the feed

I just downloaded and installed simplepie at webfaction, running PHP 5.4.3 (per phpinfo()) mbstring and iconv are enabled, also per phpinfo() Demo works
