Speaking of the GOL piston, would anyone have a set of rings for a 59.4 GOL piston, or a source for the rings? Vince Seattle, WA

Agree, GOL piston and the higher revs might be the problem. Same damage though on two other stock Piaggio pistons? Perhaps specific some problem to GS?

suspect is due to extra revs from jl exhaust, hot combustion temp will let the ring peg come lose and move, do not suspect atmospheric change to be so great as

I have seen 2 GS160 that ran after top ring broke, was removed and than bike assembled with only 1 ring and badly damaged piston crown, both were done a while

Sometimes pin just falls out from overheating, ring rotates and "bites" the port, sometimes ring just brakes... have seen couple GS160 with top ring/piston
